The Enumclaw School District will follow the board meeting schedule listed below. Board meetings will be listed as held at 6:30 p.m. at the posted locations. No action will be taken at any board work studies unless the information is posted. The work-study sessions intend to allow the board members time to review policies, discuss programs, and allow time for questions and answers.

RULES FOR PUBLIC COMMENT

As a reminder, here are the rules for public comment:

PUBLIC COMMENT
If a person desires to speak to the Board of Directors during the public comment section of a Regular Board Meeting, a form must be completed and turned in to a member of the Board before the start of the meeting. A member of the Board will announce the time for public comment during section III of the agenda, “Hearing of Persons Desiring to Address the Board as a whole.” Each person who has completed and turned in a form will be called on for public comment. The information provided on the form (name, email address, and phone number) may be used for follow-up communication.

Each person addressing the Board of Directors is allowed three minutes to speak.
The Board of Directors may terminate an individual's statement when the allotted time has passed.
The Board of Directors may interrupt a speaker to require the same standard of civility that the Board imposes on itself. Please reference Board Policy 1400 for examples.
In accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act, the board is not allowed to discuss items not on the agenda.

ABOUT THE BOARD

The school board consists of five members who are elected by voters in the Enumclaw school district. The members must live not only within the school district boundaries, but they must also live within the district boundaries they service. They serve a four year term. We also have two EHS student board members. Learn more about our school board members.

Regular School Board meetings are generally held on the third Monday of each month, and each agenda is posted 48 hours prior to the meeting.

Special Board Workshops/Work Study meetings are generally held on the first Monday of each month, and they provide an opportunity for the Board of Directors to visit each of our schools to learn how the strategic plan and district initiatives are applied to achieve the district mission of "Inspiring students to learn, lead and impact their community and the world."

DIRECTOR DISTRICT BOUNDARIES

ROLE OF THE BOARD

School directors work together to oversee the school district. As a board, their primary responsibilities are:

Hire, supervise and evaluate the superintendent.
Set the vision, mission and strategic goals for the district.
Review, revise and adopt policies.
Establish and oversee the budget.
Serve as community representatives.
Monitor the district’s progress towards its goals.

LEGISLATIVE REPRESENTATIVE

The legislative representative serves as the board’s liaison with the Washington State School Directors’ Association (WSSDA) on legislative issues.

The legislative representative will:

Represent the board at WSSDA’s Legislative Assembly, conveying local views and concerns to that body and, when appropriate, obtaining their board’s support for a legislative proposal to be submitted to the Assembly and supporting it at the Assembly.
Monitor proposed school legislation and provide legislative updates periodically at board meetings.
Build relationships with local policy makers regarding WSSDA’s legislative positions and priorities.
